The Tabitha Pediatric Hospice House, the largest pediatric hospice institute, which plays an important national role in the treatment of terminally ill children both due to its assignments and its location. Tabitha Pediatric Hospice House opened its doors in September 2011. At the Tabitha Pediatric Hospice House the treatment of patients is carried out according to the European standards of pediatric palliative care as stipulated in the Trento agreement. As a recognition for our efforts our clinical director Dr. Gabor BENYO was awarded for his efforts in the chronic and rehabilitation work with the Physician of the Year award in 2014 which was endorsed by multiple organisations (MOTESZ – Association of Hungarian Medical Societies, Hungarian Alliance of Hospitals, Medical University’s Alliance of Hungary). The Team of the Tabitha Pediatric Hospice House received special award for its professional work in the same year. Services that can be included:
End of life care which provides care for terminally ill children and their families. This service has the highest priority. Respite care is for families who care a child in chronic complex or life shortening condition. During the stay the parents are released from their care and treatment duties. We can provide care up to 28 days per year either in continuous or interrupted way.
Transitional support is help when patients need special care at home following long term hospital treatments. Our objective is to reduce the length of the hospital treatments and enable parent to learn to take care of their children in a more family friendly environment. It’s length can be 28 days pro year (altogether with respite care possibilities)
The Day care provides support and treatment for families and children with life limiting diseases during daytime according to the time interval agreed with parents. The Day care provides services for minimum six and max 12 hours a day. This service is available for max 42 days (together with Respite care and transitional support). Our staff: 1 physician – with specialty in pediatrics, oncology, hematology and palliative care, 11 nurses – qualified nurses, intenziv care assitant, pediatric nurse, carer and multidisciplinary team that includes: psychologist, play and occupational therapist, educator with thorough work experience.Our efforts are also being supported by 20 volunteers and we have already additional 30 applicants for our training course.
